2019 Presentation Evening

DCC Awards Evening 2019, Friday 18th Oct, The Unicorn Inn, Deddington. Thirty-five of us gathered for the final event of the season, with good representation from all three teams on the night plus family and supporters. We enjoyed a quiz, expertly compared by Adey – and won by Richard and Helen Plumbe and Derek and Helena Boughton with a total significantly greater than we managed to post most Saturdays…. 2019 Season

Dear all, There might be two more Test Matches to come in the Ashes Series, but for Deddington, the Season is, bar a final game for the Ladies at Charlbury on Sunday, at an end. I am the first to acknowledge that it has not been a season of unbridled success for any of the teams, but I end the season in a distinctly more positive mood than at the beginning. We started the season Read more…

The Worms that Turned

DCC 1’s vs. Chadlington, OCA Div. 4 20th July 2018. A humid day at the Windmill saw Deddington, still searching for their first league win of the season taking on Chadlington with no less than three Father and Son combos in their ranks. We think Skipper Roberts Jnr lost the toss and we were therefore inserted, with the ground damp and the air heavy we were expecting the new cherry to “do a bit”. Chad’s Read more…

DCC II vs Charlbury, 13th July 2019

And so, with 11 players and returning bowling legend Adam Moody we were set. Winning the toss stand in skipper Joe ignored the advice of Michael Vaughan and WG Grace and put them in, no doubt buoyed by the strongest bowling line up the seconds has seen in a long while. Nice weather for ducks….

II’s vs. Stonesfield away, 4-5-19 Well it all started well as Deddington lost the toss and fielded first. Watty from the Hempton end and Biswajit, our Deddington resident newbie both with medium swingers. The batsmen obviously had plans because they set off at quite a rate. After 8 overs Captn Simon rang the changes and with 60 odd on the board, Cat and Joe were on with a long spell of spinning. Joe threw one Read more…

Pre-season Warm Up

After the unseasonally good weather over Easter, it was inevitable that the pre-season inter-club warm-up game on April 27th was played in altogether different conditions. Despite this, there was plenty of promise and enthusiasm on show from two evenly-matched sides made up from the women’s and men’s squads. The format was 15 deliveries faced per batsman and a maximum of 4 overs per bowler. Five runs were deducted for each wicket lost. Rob (Deepdale) Preston Read more…

Deddington Cricket Club AGM and Quiz night

The club held its AGM and a quiz night on Friday 18th January at the Unicorn in Deddington. At the AGM, the current officers were all re-elected for the coming year and the accounts for 2018 were accepted.  Once again, expenses exceeded income for the year despite the Club securing some excellent sponsorship from Bristol Street Motors, Hire Fitness and Yellowtail Wines.  Further fundraising and a new member recruitment-drive is needed to help balance the Read more…
