Just a few notes on preparations for the new season.

The Square

April has been a month of mainly sunshine, but definitely no showers, in stark contrast to 2019 when the first round of League matches had to be postponed, because most squares had been too wet to work on right through that April. The cold nights has meant that the grass has had to be kept longer than ideal for this stage in pitch preparations, to not stress it too much, but with the help of some watering, Al Collins, Adey and Simon have been doing some rolling in the last few weeks and the nine wickets have been marked up.  This weekend work started on prepping the first two strips and more watering will be needed with no rain in the forecast for the week ahead.

We had another great turn-out at nets last week, with 11 players both on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and the Women on Friday also saw a good turn-out.  New players for both sections have boosted membership, which has been great to see. Do come along this week if you can, to ease yourself into things.

Practice game Saturday May 1st

We have good numbers for the practice game in a couple of weeks, as you can see from the availability Google sheet Simon sent out last week.  If you don’t recall receiving the link, please let Simon know and he will check and resend it. Please update this form as much as you can, not just on a week by week basis, as you can change it at any time and it really helps us organise teams. The format of the game on the 1st will depend on final numbers.

Annual subs

Thank you to the 22 of you who have paid your annual subs.  A reminder for those who have yet to pay, the subs are £50 for a single player and £70 for an adult plus a junior/child in full time education, each reduced by £5 if paid before May 1st.
