The summer heat of last season may be a fading memory, but there is plenty of news from the Cricket Club to share.
On Friday November 19th around 30 members gathered for our annual awards event. By then, modest exploits from the season had grown into epic performances, worthy of a Coleridge poem. Thankfully our trusty scorer Harry Romain had provided all the stats to keep everyone honest!

The winners were:
First team Batting award: Paul Smith
First Team Bowling award: Rob Barton
Second Team Batting award: Simon Oldfield
Second Team Bowling award: Josh Phillips
Newcomer award: Alex Bull
Young Player award: Tom Smith
Most improved Player: Richard Holmes
Clubman award: Wayne Dibsdall
Jedi Moment award: MattCarpenter
The Dave Barnhill Pants award: Sam Smith
Players Player award: Rob Barton

Women’s Squad Batting award: Kate Williamson
Woman’s squad Bowling award: Georgia Adams
Women’s Players Player award: Fleur Eden

Congratulations to all award winners and their close competitors.

In other news, the Club have entered the Oxfordshire indoor cricket League for the first time. The 10 overs an innings, six-a-side tournament runs from Mid-November until late January closely followed by indoor nets which will take place on Sunday afternoons at Sibford School until we can get outside again in April. Anyone interested in joining our nets sessions should contact Simon Oldfield on 07771997358.

The Club has also ordered a set of roller covers for the cricket square thanks largely to the kind generosity of Hamptons Estate agents, Deddington-based financial advisors, Weston Murray and Moore and from Burrington Estates. No doubt they will get plenty of use come Summer 2022.

And finally, the Ashes tests series starts on December 8th.  Set your alarms for 3am!
